The map includes branched services and Foxboro Event Service. Its station classifications, locations, and route geometry come from MBTA data.
Station accessibility is designed to describe whether passengers with disabilities can use a station. It is not a bicycle rating. Still, it is a useful practical signal for cyclists: level or otherwise accessible boarding generally means less lifting, while an inaccessible station may involve a low platform, stairs, or another physical barrier.

What got me curious was a trip to Ayer. Boarding at Porter had been effortless, but getting off at Ayer involved a much steeper step than I expected. I was glad I had a small folding bike! It made me wonder what getting on and off with a bike would be like at other stops.
The North Shore stations I’ve used have generally felt easier. That contrast is what led me to the MBTA accessibility data: it gave me a starting point for comparing stations, while firsthand notes can add the small practical details that are difficult to communicate with a single symbol.
The Fitchburg Line reaches Ayer and the Nashua River Rail Trail, while the Newburyport/Rockport Line opens up rides along the North Shore. The other lines make it possible to compare many more potential train-to-trail starting points across the system. As I use more stations, I can add observations without changing or overriding their official accessibility status.
